Harkat Studios

About this Art Exhibition

Harkat Studios is an independent, artist-led arts and performance space in Versova, Mumbai, dedicated to contemporary and alternative forms of creative expression. The space brings together theatre, independent cinema, music, dance, contemporary art, exhibitions, workshops and experimental performances, creating an intimate environment where artists can present new and unconventional work. Housed in a bungalow in Aram Nagar, Harkat has developed as a community-oriented cultural space supporting emerging, independent and experimental artists. Its programming spans multiple disciplines and encourages collaborations between different art forms. The venue has hosted hundreds of shows and also offers specialised 8mm and 16mm film projection facilities, making it particularly distinctive for independent cinema and analogue film experiences. Harkat also operates as a film production house, artist-run analogue film lab and creative studio, extending its work beyond the physical performance space. Its programme changes regularly, so individual exhibitions, screenings, performances and workshops may have separate dates, timings, ticketing and registration requirements.
